Instrument Technician

Overview

To provide knowledge and practical skills that ensure the safe and effective delivery of electrical manufacturing and installation including electrical maintenance activities as requested by the team leader. To perform high standards of work and produce on time quality products.

Safety and Health Environment

  • Ensure and deliver safe standards of workmanship that comply with all relevant health and safety legislation
  • Ensure all aspects of electrical activities are carried out in a safe manner and comply with all the relevant health and safety legislation
  • Responsibility for the personal health, welfare and safety of those executing work
  • Produce risk assessments, safe-working procedures and deliver safety conversations; Tool Box talks that actively engage the teams/individuals performing production tasks
  • Ensure that all workshop and panel shop activities being undertaken are done so with a view to minimise any impact on the environment. e.g. Waste segregation & management

Quality

  • Undertake continuous in process inspection and testing activities with the team, applying practical methods and corrective actions to deliver high standards of workmanship at all stages of the processes

Communication

  • Ensure that equipment, services and information are available for the team to effectively complete all production demands
  • Maintain communication that ensures efficient interaction with colleagues and guidance of support services during installation and manufacturing activities

Technical

  • Read electrical drawings, assess the parts needed for a job and assist electrical engineer to place order
  • Diagnose and repair electrical problems in commercial electrical systems, including fault finding, rewiring, monitoring, conduct routine maintenance and testing on electrical systems
  • Install electrical systems to BS7671 (18th Edition) wiring regulations
  • Carry out electrical control panel manufacturing from layout and schematic drawings, wiring DC and AC electrical motors (Star and Delta), earth loop impedance testing, insulation resistance testing, polarity and continuity testing

Liaising with Other Departments

Engineering

  • To provide materials, information and support to the design team.

Production and Maintenance

  • To provide technical input into work instructions and production methodology.

Stores & Logistics

  • To issue materials and kit of parts.

 

Supplier Quality Engineer

Overview

Involved directly in the achievement of TSP Engineering’s quality objectives, the Supplier Quality Engineer will be expected to perform all responsibilities with the achievement of Customer-focused Quality as the primary priority and goal. Working at all levels within the Company, to assure the day-to-day implementation and maintenance of the Company’s Quality Management System(s) in all areas of the procurement process from start to finish to effectively manage the quality of the supply chain. Liaising as required with suppliers, both remotely and at their premises, as well as internal customers. Providing quantitative and qualitative data and analysis on quality issues and performance metrics for continual improvement purposes to assure that our suppliers products and services continue to meet or exceed internal customer requirements, which, in turn, impacts on our ability to meet or exceed the requirements of our external customers. Participating in sound, systematic problem-solving techniques to assess systems and procedures to identify, prioritize and communicate root causes of non-conformances and participate in robust resolution of these non-conformances to prevent future recurrence. Providing independent oversight and review of deliverables throughout the purchasing lifecycle with respect to suppliers, including the initial assessment and follow up auditing and monitoring of suppliers. Promoting robust communications between Quality, Procurement, Project Management and Supply Chain.

Key Accountabilities

  • Instigation, maintenance, development and updating of all documentation and records relevant to the Supplier Quality Assurance procedures in the Company to support the aim of developing the QMS to meet the necessary accreditation requirements.
  • Responsible for the overall quality performance of TSP Engineering’s direct suppliers
  • Responsible for managing supplier quality concerns including initial containment at the TSP site, 8D reporting, root cause investigation and close out of corrective actions and reporting to the TSP Engineering Quality Manager immediately.
  • Responsible for leading immediate containment & improvement activity at the supplier’s site in the event of major quality concern and reporting to the TSP Engineering QHSE Manager immediately

Qualifications/Experience

  • QMS Lead Auditor Certified
  • Understanding of Nuclear, Power Generation and similar Industry specifications and requirements.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering manufacturing processes and products.
  • Experience of undertaking supplier visits and audits to assess compliance throughout a supply chain.
  • Member of relevant professional institution
  • UK driving license and passport

 

Pipefitter

Overview

The applicant will be responsible for carrying out various roles in the refurbishing pipe shop division including hydraulic & lubrication systems, mainly repairing damaged pipes & testing. Other duties will be stripping out spray pipes, cleaning nozzles, re-fit to spray pipes & testing to determine the correct spray pattern can be achieved. The applicant will also carry out any maintenance tasks, to assist the smooth running of the shop floor.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering /Pipefiting and Assembly or equivalent would be preferred
  • Experience of fitting carbon, stainless and brass pipework
  • Knowledge of hydraulic & lubrication systems
  • Experience in all pipefitting activities would be desirable, troubleshooting skills
  • Organise your time and prioritise tasks efficiently
  • Effective communication skills
  • Self-motivated & have a practical approach to work

 

CNC Machinist x3

Overview

The purpose of this role is to machine items from a combination of work instructions, reading drawing information and understanding NC Programming. This will be used to aid and support the Team Leader with achieving deadlines of manufactured part, product quality and health & safety objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ability to Set, Operate and check programs over a variety of CNC Horizontal and Vertical Milling machines working in heavy industry
  • Suggest improvements to plant, process and operating procedures
  • Ensure prior to performing machining activities, health and safety measures are taking into consideration and that any risks involved are considered
  • Participate in team activities, utilising appropriate process, technical and engineering skills to achieve manufacturing, quality, and service targets
  • Actively contributes to all team activities aimed at improving plant performance through implementation of continuous improvement, problem solving, team building and personal self-development
  • Reacts to process, engineering, quality and safety issues as they arise and utilises the knowledge, experience and skills of own and other team members to initiate corrective action

  • Undertakes inspection activities as required including production of associated reports and signing of paperwork ensures customer’s specifications are adhered to
  • Calibrates and maintains inspection equipment for quality control and production use

Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidate will have CSWIP 3.1 or ICORR 2 (paint inspection) minimum
  • PCN Level 2 in MPI, DPI and UT preferred / be prepared to sign up undertake training to achieve missing qualifications
  • It is essential the candidate is fully numerate and fluent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications Experience in inspection using a variety of measurement techniques of fabricated, machined and assembled items preferred

Overview

To lead and develop a Team of Quality Engineers, Inspectors and Support Staff in the development and provision of a ‘first class’ Quality Assurance and Control service, systems and technology.

Key Accountabilities

  • To lead and develop a Team of Quality Inspectors, Engineers and support staff and provide a professional and cost efficient Quality Assurance and Control Service, including the deployment of a variety of forms of NDE
  • To develop and maintain an effective Quality Assurance system which ensures robust compliance with ISO 9001/19443 and other industry standards
  • Manage the Quality Control Systems to ensure that customer quality requirements are achieved including effective quality control of suppliers
  • Develop key Quality Metrics and Trends which drive a robust programme of improvements
  • Monitor production activities across the site, and occasionally our off site works, to minimise defective work and promote a right first time approach
  • To benchmark our approach to Quality and Quality performance against appropriate organisations
  • To interface with 2nd & 3rd Party Auditors and Internal and External Customers in relation to quality matters

EC&I Design Engineer

Full time role Mon-Fri, 36.5 paid hours per week.

Overview

  • Provide support to EC&I project estimates, specifications, layouts and other tender documents in adequate detail and good order to enable project tenders and sales submissions to be made to prospective customers and project variation proposals to be made to existing customers
  • Produce the suite of EC&I design and manufacturing deliverables to process plant projects across a range of highly regulated industries to ensure functionality and safety
  • Provide design and manufacturing support to the business, department and the project team to deliver projects on time in full within the budget
  • To deliver work in accordance with business quality systems and to monitor, forecast and control their aspects of a project
  • To ensure that the design & project output can be manufactured / realised economically (value engineered) and installed, used & maintained safely in accordance with the legislative requirements appertaining to the project and to ensure the customer’s requirements are satisfied
  • To officially liaise/enquire to, and meet with prospective suppliers of goods and services, evaluation of offers, provision of purchase specifications and completion of a Bill of Materials to satisfy the technical, requirements of the project
  • To set up, control and be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely execution and commissioning of plant and equipment both within workshop and at customers site. This is to include FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test) and incorporation of as built modifications within the final project document packages
  • To work individually or as part of a larger bid / project team, which may be led by either an equivalent, Lead Engineer, Project Engineer or Bid Manager
  • To support and undertake activities to maintain site electrical infrastructure as instructed and requested by the department manager
  • To positively undertake continuous self – development to improve the success of the whole team

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in developing the following: Functional Design Specs, Control Philosophies, Single Line Diagrams, Cable calculations, FAT/SAT documentations, Specifications, Operation & Maintenance, Manuals/Procedures
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office with good knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical
  • Knowledge and experience of developing & troubleshooting of PLC (i.e. Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI, Drive programme
  • Knowledge and experience of designing and commissioning of MCC, Control panel and instrumentation
  • Knowledge of current UK Technical standards/publications and legislation requirements

 

Welding Technician

Full time role Mon-Fri, 36.5 paid hours per week.

Overview

The position exists to provide the necessary detailed technical welding knowledge required to support the TSP business on a day-to-day basis.  Working as part of a team, the jobholder should be technically capable of determining welder approval and procedure qualification test requirements and taking testing through to completion. Maintaining the welder qualification register and welder audits in accordance with ISO 3834-2 are also included with the role.

Qualifications and Skills

The jobholder should be educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Welding and Fabrication, or may  have a degree in Metallurgy / Material Science, or a background in an engineering or science based discipline, or perhaps CSWIP 3.1 and possess:

  • Must have completed a welding/fabrication apprenticeship – Essential
  • European/International Welding Specialist (IWS/EWS) qualified – Essential
  • Have the ability and willingness to progress through to European/International Welding Engineer – Essential
  • CSWIP 3.0/3.1 qualified – Desirable
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role – Desirable
  • Good knowledge and understanding of multiple welding processes, MIG/MAG/FCAW, TIG, SAW – Essential
  • Experience of carbon steel and stainless-steel fabrication. Thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 30mm+ – Essential
  • Understanding of technical documents, including drawings, WPQR’s, WPS and welder qualifications – Essential

Project Buyer

Overview

The purpose of this role is to source all goods/services for Projects working with requirements from a Bill of Material (BOM), in accordance with Business Processes and Procedures, and to best possible Commercial Terms.

Key Accountabilities

  • Source items as necessary to ensure that all relevant items/services are available to deliver all projects on time.  Negotiating agreements for the supply of goods and services to meet project requirements at optimum costs
  • Support the monitoring of supplier performance to ensure that they confirm to the conditions of contract and that they remain as viable businesses capable of meeting the company’s needs
  • Liaise with Project Engineers, Stores, and Operational personnel to gain a full understanding of their needs and brief them on improved sources of supply
  • A good understanding of the Quality Grading approach for each specific customer as this drives the documentation requirements
  • Take ownership of material from PO placement to Quality Clearance (including pro-active expediting throughout) ensuring no delays to production
  • Work with Material Control on negotiations for annual contracts for specified goods and services to provide project engineers with call off facilities that meet their needs cost effectively
  • Identify new and alternative sources of supply to avoid over dependence on too few suppliers and maintain market competitiveness
  • Initiate and negotiate annual contracts for specified goods and services to provide project engineers with call off facilities that meet their needs cost effectively

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in a buyer role is essential (preferably in Engineering)
  • CIPS qualified – desirable or willing to work towards
  • A good commercial and contract knowledge including the ability to flow down terms and conditions from our customer.
  • Ability to Chair meetings for Project Requirement with Suppliers, arranging meetings and follow up actions
  • Good organisation skills, good attention to detail when reviewing and analysing material requirements and costs
  • Ability to meet deadlines and completing priorities set out by Projects to ensure Production Schedules can be met
  • Ability to adapt to using new systems and processes to meet business needs
  • Good communication skills

 

Estimator

Overview:

The purpose of this role is to support and maintain a professional estimating service on behalf of the commercial and operational teams in support of new business opportunities. Through implementing a professional estimating practice, ensuring that future work is secured on a competitive basis and is based on known risks and rewards.  The main accountabilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking estimates for manufacturing and site installation activities. This will include activities which are both self-performed and sub-contracted
  • Preparation of BOQ and procurement schedules as part of the estimating phase in anticipation of securing the execution phase.
  • Preparation and costing Risk Registers and recognising and bounding Estimating Uncertainty for more complex submissions.
  • Interfacing with the various internal approval bodies (Gate Process) to ensure that tender submission deadlines are met
  • Monitoring and delivering estimating work within the sanctioned Bid Costs
  • Providing accurate reports covering estimating KPI’s, progress information in relation to estimating
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders e.g. clients, external suppliers, commercial teams, operational teams, planning department etc
  • Implementing best practice estimating processes and procedures which are also consistent with wider TSP arrangements (including IT systems)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Full Craft City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 / B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering – Essential
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience – preferably within the Nuclear, Defence or Heavy Engineering Sectors – Essential
  • 3 to 5 years manufacturing estimating experience – Desirable
  • Understanding of Engineering Drawings, Specifications and Contract Documentation
  • Understanding of fabrication, machining and assembly activities and the ability to accurately estimate the hours required to undertake these tasks. Main area of focus to be fabrication.  With particular emphasis on Fabrication
  • Identification of ‘Norms’ for fabrication, machining and assembly activity
  • An understanding of potential project risks and how to cater for these within estimates
  • Experience developing and implement written procedures and processes
  • Understanding and use of IT Systems including Microsoft Office, including capability to complete internal TSP Estimate Sheets and External Client Estimate Sheets as required
  • Good commercial awareness including delivery to budgets / timescales
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Represents TSP in a professional and competent manner during interactions with customers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the products and services offered by TSP
  • Ability to liaise with the supply chain for BOC and subcontract items
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
