On 15 December 2016, friends and colleagues at TSP Engineering held an official opening ceremony of their newest conference room, newly named the Claire Louise Conference Room, opened in memory of their Communications and Marketing Manager, Claire Dempster, who unexpectedly passed away in August at the young age of 38.
John Coughlan, Director of Operations said ‘Claire joined the team fresh from school at the age of 16 and had been working here at TSP Engineering for 22 years, she was a very popular, outgoing member of our team and we wanted to remember Claire in a way where she would always continue to be a part of TSP. Part of Claire’s role was to organise functions and conferences and so it felt a fitting tribute to name our newest and largest conference room after her’.
Lynn Fitzsimmons, Head of Document Control has planted and grown a Clare Louise Chrysanthemum flower and this will be placed and cared for in the Claire Louise Conference Room where there is also a break out corner dedicated to Claire. A memory tree where close friends and colleagues have noted their fond memories stands in the corner with examples of some of the events that Claire organised over recent years and a framed photograph in memory of Claire.
Since Claire’s unexpected passing, the team at TSP Engineering have been raising money for the Pulmonary Hypertension Ward (29) at Freeman’s Hospital, Newcastle which provided treatment for Claire on many occasions. Collection buckets have been handed around the offices and cake sales have been held. In October, colleagues old and new got together at the Green Dragon, Workington for a fundraising evening in memory of Claire. Melissa Edmondson, Business Support Manager said ‘the ladies at TSP held fortnightly meetings to touch base on progress with transforming the conference room together with updates on progress made with the fundraising events. Many local firms who knew Claire, both personally and in a business capacity very kindly donated raffle prizes for the fundraising evening and through these efforts, we have managed to raise a total of £1,664.43, this would not have been possible without the generosity of everybody concerned, with a special thank you to all the ladies at TSP and the businesses and individuals who made raffle prize donations’.
Sue McCarten, Head of HR said ‘Claire had such an outgoing character, she was full of life and enjoyed a laugh and joke around the office. She is missed by everyone whose lives she touched’.
