Project Engineer

Full time role Mon-Fri, 36.5 paid hours per week.

Salary ranging from  £27,000 to 30,000 experience depending.

35 holidays (inc BH) per annum

Overview

  • The purpose of this role is to be the main technical lead on multidiscipline projects of varying depth and scope.
  • To plan, manage and monitor a multidiscipline team of Engineers to support project delivery.
  • To report functionally to the Project Manager on the work being undertaken whilst remaining commercially focused.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • To assess project requirements from a technical perspective.
  • To deliver work in accordance with the business management systems and to plan, monitor, forecast and control various aspects of a project. In particular safety, quality, technical, schedule and resource.
  • To oversee the manufacture of complex components and assemblies including any testing and commissioning activities.
  • To ensure the project is undertaken safely in accordance with the legislative requirements appertaining to the project and to ensure the customer’s requirements are satisfied.
  • To produce reports and documentation where required and provide technical advice within the Project.
  • To produce the Bill of Materials, including identifying all technical and quality requirements to allow the procurement of both goods and services.
  • To liaise with manufacturers, organise and or carry our inspection and expediting activities to satisfy the project requirements.
  • To set up, control and be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely erection and commissioning of plant and equipment both within workshop assembly and at customers site. This is to include incorporation of as built modifications within the final project document packages.
  • To work individually or as part of a larger project team, which may be led by either an equivalent or a Project Manager.
  • Deputise for the Project Manager if required.

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum HND in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience of managing a multi discipline team of engineers executing multiple projects to budget and schedule.
  • Experience in understanding and applying client specifications and quality requirements.
  • Ability to plan and prepare work to prevent poor performance and to foresee where potential problems may occur.
  • Effective Communicator.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment

 

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Nuclear Industry Experience

 

Industrial Engineer / NC Planner

 

Overview:

  • To provide technical information/documentation for computer numerical control machine tools, in order to achieve the most efficient manufacturing method using all available resources.
  • To be responsible for the specification and standardisation of all shop equipment.
  • To manage the department to ensure manufacturing standards are adhered to.

 

Key Accountability’s

  • Interpret complicated mechanical engineering documentation and using a “value engineering” technique convert, compile and develop computer numerical control information using Vero VISI – CAM software, along with machine tool set-up sheets and tooling lists.  This information is then directed to any of 19 varied machine tool centres enabling manufacture of components to customer specification.
  • Develop and implement programming methods and instruct other personnel as to their use, in order to increase department efficiency.
  • Control documentation within the department to ensure working practices conform to internationally accepted externally audited standards e.g. (BSEN ISO 9001).
  • Recommend, approve and control all aspects of tooling to be used on all machines within the business by specifying and standardising the brand names and types of tooling to be used.
  • Provide detailed tooling packages as dictated by contractual requirements and where nonstandard tooling is required and be within monetary budgets.
  • Collate and present detailed information and prepare relevant documentation in order for it to be submitted for special expenditure approval.
  • To liase and support craft machine tool operators, monitoring and improving the manufacturing method during and after normal working hours.

 

Qualification and Skills

  • Ideally will have a Machining background with a knowledge of fitting. (desirable)
  • Manufacturing expertise in Machining (although a broad engineering background including fitting and/or welding and fabrication knowledge is also advantageous)
  • Experience of carbon, stainless and non-ferrous material manufacturing methods in assembly and/or machining, welding and fabrication.
  • Computer literate being proficient in the use of Microsoft computer packages is essential, and 2D and/or 3D CAD knowledge is an advantage.
  • Qualified to minimum HNC in mechanical engineering and willing to work toward further academic qualifications.

 

 

Machinist

 

Overview:

  • The purpose of this role is to support the Team Leader with the manufacturing unit in achieving plant operational targets, product quality, customer service and health & safety objectives.

 

Key Accountability’s

  • Contributes to initiatives related to improving health and safety performance, taking an active part in risk assessment/hazard identification for all operational activities and taking account of appropriate COMAH regulations.
  • Participate in team activities, utilising appropriate process, technical and engineering skills to achieve manufacturing, quality and service targets.
  • Actively contributes to all team activities aimed at improving plant performance through implementation of continuous improvement, problem solving, team building and personal self-development.
  • Suggest improvements to plant, process and operating procedures.
  • Reacts to process, engineering, quality and safety issues as they arise and utilises the knowledge, experience and skills of own and other team members to initiate corrective action.
  • Operates flexibility and safely within the team carrying out activities under direction of the team leader within area of competence, capability and training.

 

Qualification and Knowledge and Skills

  • Relevant time served qualification CNC and Manual Machining (or min level 3 with 3 years shop floor experience) -essential
  • Interpretation of basic CNC machine code and programme- essential
  • Drawing interpretation including basic machining tolerances and surface finishing -essential
  • Machine Tool Setting -essential
  • Basic understanding of machine mechanics -essential
  • Knowledge of quality assurance requirements and procedures-essential
  • Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work-essential
  • Heavy engineering experience -desirable
  • To be able to use basic inspection measuring tools -essential.

 

 

Project Manager

 

Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to manage projects on behalf of TSP Engineering in various industry sectors. To act as the client contact and retain overall responsibility for successful delivery of Projects to schedule, quality and budget.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as the principle client contact, ensuring clients requirements are correctly interpreted and reflected in deliverables and maintaining a positive working relationship throughout the project duration whilst remaining commercial in any decisions.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Project Engineers, Project Planners, Manufacturing Teams and support staff in delivering Projects against schedule, quality and budget.
  • To be responsible for delivering projects to time, cost and quality and in accordance with the Business Management Systems.
  • To identify potential risks and opportunities and actively resolve any issues affecting project delivery to time, cost and quality.
  • Ensuring project schedules and costs are regularly reviewed and that effective change control procedures are established and adhered to throughout the project duration.
  • Providing confidence to all stakeholders (including senior management and client) that the Project is in a healthy state.
  • Proactive client management whilst maintaining a higher / broader thinking.

 

Qualifications:

  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
  • Engineering Degree or Equivalent Practical Mechanical Engineering experience is desirable

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Project Management background with demonstrable experience and proven success in managing and delivering multi-discipline projects through all phases.
  • A working knowledge of project management principles, tools and techniques.
  • An appreciation of project management planning, estimating, risk identification, management and mitigation processes and their application across multi-disciplined teams.
  • Experience in ensuring the adherence to client contracts and specifications.
  • Experience in the management of Projects over £10m.
  • Experience in a Mechanical Engineering role or a similar technical role.

 

The ideal candidate will have good practical skills and attention to detail. Previous experience in a Project Management role is essential whilst being able to underpin this with a good mechanical engineering knowledge and practice. Overall, the right candidate must have a good attitude, be flexible in the shift patterns and prepared to work overtime where there is a business requirement.

 

 

Fabricator

 

Full time role Mon-Fri, 40 hours (Must be able to work shifts if required)

Intro rate salary £21,935.68 + 12% increase to this rate once competency is demonstrated up to a 12 month period

40 days holiday (inc BH)

Brief Job Description

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Drawing Interpretation including basic weld symbol understanding.
  • Welding ability: MIG/MAG welding
  • Experience with weld procedures and welder qualifications (codings).
  • Material preparation – Grinding, burring, dressing (abrasive wheels).
  • Experienced in the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Thermal cutting and chamfering (oxy-propane).
  • Plasma cutting.
  • Marking off – for fabrication assembly and machining allowance.
  • Heavy engineering experience.
  • Nuclear fabrication experience.

 

Desirable

  • Flux cored welding – desirable, TIG welding
  • Plate rolling and forming
  • Arc Air Gouging
  • Pipework fabrication and welding
