Project Buyer

 

  • Full time role
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum

Overview

The purpose of this role is to source, as required, all items required by the Project team within the business, in accordance with procedures, and to best possible commercial terms.

Key Accountabilities

  • Negotiate agreements for the supply of goods and services to meet project requirements at optimum costs
  • Source items as necessary to ensure that all relevant items/services are available to deliver all projects on time, and at minimum cost
  • Identify new and alternative sources of supply to avoid over dependence on too few suppliers and maintain market competitiveness
  • Support the monitoring of supplier performance to ensure that they confirm to the conditions of contract and that they remain as viable businesses capable of meeting the company’s needs
  • Initiate and negotiate annual contracts for specified goods and services to provide project engineers with call off facilities that meet their needs cost effectively
  • Liaise with Project Engineers, Stores, and Operational personnel to gain a full understanding of their needs and brief them on improved sources of supply

Qualifications and Skills

  • Engineering Degree or Equivalent Practice
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience working in a purchasing environment
  • Experience in negotiating of major contracts

 

 

 

Quality Engineer

 

  • Full time role
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum

Overview

The purpose of this role is to provide a service to the Quality and Environmental Manager to provide customer confidence in the business processes and procedures and enable the retention of the BS EN ISO 9000 series accreditation by:

  • Providing technical expertise and support to all departments
  • Supporting and implementing new processes into the organisation

Key Accountabilities

  • Control and organise QA activities to maximise the throughput and achieve cost and delivery targets ensuring products comply with the design specification for quality to give customer satisfaction
  • To ensure the above activities comply with the company’s health, safety and environmental policies
  • To assist the manager in monitoring production to minimise defective work thus helping to maximise and achieve quality targets
  • To provide technical support for all metallurgical/material queries raised which affect product quality. This includes queries raised internally, by suppliers, plus potential and existing customers
  • To liaise with customer’s representatives regarding documentation issues, which may affect product quality
  • To maintain, review and update the documentation supporting the QA system
  • To perform internal and external auditing as required
  • To participate in 3rd party auditing as required
  • To review and approve documentation for contracts, ensuring full traceability and auditability
  • To maintain an overview of N.D.E carried out both in-house and subcontract (currently radiography, dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing)
  • To participate in the training of the NVQ apprentices on secondment in QA

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant Auditor Qualification
  • Quality Engineer Certification

Essential

  • An appreciation of health, safety and environmental issues in an engineering business
  • Understanding of Nuclear Industry specifications and requirements
  • Problem solving & continual improvement techniques – 5S, 8D, 5Why’s or Isikawa
  • Knowledge of quality assurance requirements and procedures

Desirable

  • Proficient Use of Microsoft Packages
  • Experience in supplying technical materials expertise required by an engineering business
  • NEBOSH

 

 

 

Quality Manager

 

  • Full time role
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum

Overview

To lead and develop a Team of Quality Engineers, Inspectors and Support Staff in the development and provision of a ‘first class’ Quality Assurance and Control service, systems and technology.

Key Accountabilities

  • To lead and develop a Team of Quality Inspectors, Engineers and support staff and provide a professional and cost efficient Quality Assurance and Control Service, including the deployment of a variety of forms of NDE
  • To develop and maintain an effective Quality Assurance system which ensures robust compliance with ISO 9001/19443 and other industry standards
  • Manage the Quality Control Systems to ensure that customer quality requirements are achieved including effective quality control of suppliers
  • Develop key Quality Metrics and Trends which drive a robust programme of improvements
  • Monitor production activities across the site, and occasionally our off site works, to minimise defective work and promote a right first time approach
  • To benchmark our approach to Quality and Quality performance against appropriate organisations
  • To interface with 2nd & 3rd Party Auditors and Internal and External Customers in relation to quality matters
  • To review existing processes, practices and techniques and implement industry best practice
  • Setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Detailed knowledge of Quality techniques, processes, standards, inspection and NDE techniques
  • Understanding of Nuclear Industry specifications and requirements
  • Competent in material sciences to degree level or equivalent (desirable)
  • Problem Solving & Continual Improvement Techniques
  • An appreciation of health, safety and environmental issues in an engineering business.

 

 

 

Electrical Design Engineer

 

  • Permanent role with an immediate start
  • Monday – Friday

Responsibilities

  • Design project estimates, specifications, layouts and other tender documents in sufficient detail and good order. To enable project tenders and sales submissions to be made to prospective customers and project variation proposals to be made to existing customers.
  • Ensure that the design & project output can be manufactured / realised economically (value engineered) and installed, used & maintained safely in accordance with the legislative requirements appertaining to the project and to ensure the customer’s requirements are satisfied.
  • To set up, control and be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely erection and commissioning of plant and equipment both within workshop assembly and at customers site. This is to include FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test) and incorporation of as built modifications within the final project document packages.

Skills and Experience

  • IT literate with good knowledge of AutoDesk AutoCAD Electrical to produce Schematic, Layout and block cable diagram.
  • Knowledge and experience of designing and commissioning of MCC (Motor Control Centre), Control panel and Instrumentation panel.
  • Knowledge and experience of using BSEN13849 -1&2 (Design and Validation) to establish Performance Level (PL) for Safety Related Parts of a Control System will be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience of programming and commissioning of PLC (i.e. Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI will be highly advantageous.
