Project Engineer

 

  • Full time role Mon-Fri, 36.5 paid hours per week
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum

Overview

  • The purpose of this role is to be the main technical lead on multidiscipline projects of varying depth and scope.
  • To plan, manage and monitor a multidiscipline team of Engineers to support project delivery.
  • To report functionally to the Project Manager on the work being undertaken whilst remaining commercially focused.

Key Accountabilities

  • To assess project requirements from a technical perspective.
  • To deliver work in accordance with the business management systems and to plan, monitor, forecast and control various aspects of a project. In particular safety, quality, technical, schedule and resource.
  • To oversee the manufacture of complex components and assemblies including any testing and commissioning activities.
  • To ensure the project is undertaken safely in accordance with the legislative requirements appertaining to the project and to ensure the customer’s requirements are satisfied.
  • To produce reports and documentation where required and provide technical advice within the Project.
  • To produce the Bill of Materials, including identifying all technical and quality requirements to allow the procurement of both goods and services.
  • To liaise with manufacturers, organise and or carry our inspection and expediting activities to satisfy the project requirements.
  • To set up, control and be responsible for the safe, efficient and timely erection and commissioning of plant and equipment both within workshop assembly and at customers site. This is to include incorporation of as built modifications within the final project document packages.
  • To work individually or as part of a larger project team, which may be led by either an equivalent or a Project Manager.
  • Deputise for the Project Manager if required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Engineering Degree of Equivalent Practice
  • Experience of managing a multi discipline team of engineers executing multiple projects to budget and schedule.
  • Experience in understanding and applying client specifications and quality requirements.
  • Ability to plan and prepare work to prevent poor performance and to foresee where potential problems may occur.
  • Effective Communicator.

Desirable

  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment

 

 

Delivery Manager

 

  • Full time role Mon-Fri, 36.5 paid hours per week. (Must be able to work shifts and weekend overtime when required)
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum

  • Immediate start

The purpose of this role is to lead and develop a team comprising of team leaders and craft resources to safely and efficiently manufacture items and equipment to time, cost & quality.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide safety leadership and ensure that all manufacturing is delivered without harm to those involved and minimising impact on the environment.
  • Through strong leadership, setting and upholding high standards in relation to: Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental Management, people processes and procedures, Company image and reputation.
  • Leading the Manufacturing Teams to ensure high standards of cost effective work are delivered to Time, Cost and Quality as defined in the budget and work specifications.
  • Planning and reporting of manufacturing activities including progress against plan, hours against budget and key issues, risks, and quality non-conformances.

Experience

Project Buyer

 

  • Full time role
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum
  • Pension 6% ER and EE

Overview

The purpose of this role is to source, as required, all items required by the Project team within the business, in accordance with procedures, and to best possible commercial terms.

Key Accountabilities

  • Negotiate agreements for the supply of goods and services to meet project requirements at optimum costs
  • Source items as necessary to ensure that all relevant items/services are available to deliver all projects on time, and at minimum cost
  • Identify new and alternative sources of supply to avoid over dependence on too few suppliers and maintain market competitiveness
  • Support the monitoring of supplier performance to ensure that they confirm to the conditions of contract and that they remain as viable businesses capable of meeting the company’s needs
  • Initiate and negotiate annual contracts for specified goods and services to provide project engineers with call off facilities that meet their needs cost effectively
  • Liaise with Project Engineers, Stores, and Operational personnel to gain a full understanding of their needs and brief them on improved sources of supply

Qualifications and Skills

  • Engineering Degree or Equivalent Practice
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience working in a purchasing environment
  • Experience in negotiating of major contracts

 

 

Quality Engineer

 

  • Full time role
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum
  • Pension 6% ER and EE

Overview

The purpose of this role is to provide a service to the Quality and Environmental Manager to provide customer confidence in the business processes and procedures and enable the retention of the BS EN ISO 9000 series accreditation by:

  • Providing technical expertise and support to all departments
  • Supporting and implementing new processes into the organisation

Key Accountabilities

  • Control and organise QA activities to maximise the throughput and achieve cost and delivery targets ensuring products comply with the design specification for quality to give customer satisfaction
  • To ensure the above activities comply with the company’s health, safety and environmental policies
  • To assist the manager in monitoring production to minimise defective work thus helping to maximise and achieve quality targets
  • To provide technical support for all metallurgical/material queries raised which affect product quality. This includes queries raised internally, by suppliers, plus potential and existing customers
  • To liaise with customer’s representatives regarding documentation issues, which may affect product quality
  • To maintain, review and update the documentation supporting the QA system
  • To perform internal and external auditing as required
  • To participate in 3rd party auditing as required
  • To review and approve documentation for contracts, ensuring full traceability and auditability
  • To maintain an overview of N.D.E carried out both in-house and subcontract (currently radiography, dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing)
  • To participate in the training of the NVQ apprentices on secondment in QA

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant Auditor Qualification
  • Quality Engineer Certification

Essential

  • An appreciation of health, safety and environmental issues in an engineering business
  • Understanding of Nuclear Industry specifications and requirements
  • Problem solving & continual improvement techniques – 5S, 8D, 5Why’s or Isikawa
  • Knowledge of quality assurance requirements and procedures

Desirable

  • Proficient Use of Microsoft Packages
  • Experience in supplying technical materials expertise required by an engineering business
  • NEBOSH

 

 

Mechanical Design Engineer

 

  • Full time role
  • 35 holidays (inc BH) per annum
  • Pension 6% ER and EE
  • Opportunity for educational progression

 

Overview

  • To work with our senior engineers to develop detail design models and drawings.
  • Innovative and original design work for many industries.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work under direction of Engineering Manager and Senior Engineers

  • Detail drawings for manufacture
  • Support Production Department with arising build issues

Qualifications and Skills

  • HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (minimum)
  • 2 years Autodesk Inventor and Vault user (essential)
  • NASTRAN or similar analysis experience desirable
  • Nuclear or steelworks experience desirable
  • Prior trade or metal working experience desirable
  • Practical problem-solving attitude

 

Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

  • Structural design – machined components and fabrications
  • Innovative and original design work for many industries.
  • Report to the Engineering Manager

Key Accountabilities

  • Full cycle mechanical system design from concept to finished drawings
  • Interface with client technical teams
  • Development of design calculations including stress analysis and finite element modelling
  • Detail drawings for manufacture
  • Design reports, specifications and manuals
  • Support Production Department with arising build issues

Qualifications and Skills

  • BSc minimum in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years post-graduation design office experience
  • Autodesk Inventor and Vault user
  • NASTRAN (or similar) finite element analysis experience
  • MATHCAD experience desirable
  • Nuclear or steelworks experience desirable
