Put on your glad rags, enjoy a slap-up three-course meal, and feel a sense of unexplainable achievement and pride as it’s that time of the year again, Business Award season! It’s the time of year where businesses of all size, profitability and industries refresh their inbox 100 times a day in hope of seeing an email confirming their years of hard work and hours of typing have paid off, and for us, that is exactly what has happened.
TSP Engineering are extremely proud to announce we have achieved the RoSPA Gold Award for a second year running. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Health and Safety Awards date back 58 years and are the largest and longest running of its kind in the UK and one of the most prestigious in the world. The majority of RoSPA awards mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels, and TSP Engineering are ecstatic to have achieved Gold.
The awards are an opportunity for businesses to prove their ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards, which is a great passion of ours at TSP Engineering. The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
The confirmation of being successful in gaining the Gold Award comes one month after TSP Engineering’s success in becoming the first in the world to be certified to the new ISO 19443 standard. The standard focuses on improving both safety in the Nuclear Sector and the Supply Chain of the Nuclear Energy Sector. Being the first company in the world to achieve the ISO 19443 certification along with the recent confirmation of receiving RoSPA Gold, demonstrates the level of understanding which TSP Engineering possess when it comes to prioritising safety.
John Coughlan, CEO of TSP Engineering said “I am really pleased to have learned that TSP Engineering has again been awarded Gold by RoSPA for our safety management record at our plant in Workington. This is thanks to all our employees and their extensive passion and knowledge regarding safety awareness”.
TSP Engineering will be presented with the award during a ceremony at DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central on Thursday 12th September, 2019. The headline sponsor of the RoSPA Awards 2019 is NEBOSH – the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health – for the 14th consecutive year.
The exciting news doesn’t end there, it gives us great pleasure to also add, TSP Engineering have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Manufacturing Business of the Year’ category for the annual In-Cumbria Business Awards. Three companies have been shortlisted in this category, including ourselves, with the winner being announced later in the year.
We are also pleased to announce, TSP Engineering’s very own CEO, John Coughlan has been shortlisted for ‘Best Businessperson of the Year’. This year, as most are aware, has been a bit of a rollercoaster for TSP Engineering – from all the positive successful news including the above, to the sad news surrounding British Steel. John Coughlan has been key in supporting employees and ensuring TSP Engineering continue trading as usual, so it’s truly wonderful to see him gain the recognition he deserves.
In Cumbria revealed a record number of entries were submitted regarding applications for the awards, so it’s a great honour to have been shortlisted and recognised for the challenges we have overcome and the successes we have gained as a team. The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony hosted by news presenter, journalist and author Cathy Newman at The Halston, in Carlisle, on Thursday 14th November.
